After receiving lectures for a week in JICA Tokyo, today is the first observation trip and five participants visited the biggest rehabilitation site in Japan, where they could find Rehabilitation Hospital, Rehabilitation Center including training for daily living activities, and Vocational Rehabilitation Center. .

In the morning, they first received a brief outline and watched a video of the National Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities.

They toured from the hospital and observed the physical therapy and occupational therapy section and moved to the facility for the training for independent living. Participants were very much interested in the assistive devices for toileting and bathing.

Employment promotion services are also provided at the center, which helps trainees get jobs at open labor market, such as basic pre-work, laundry work, office work, worksite trainings. They can acquire basic skills for employment.

After the lunch, the participants visited the National Vocational Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities and firstly they first received a brief outline and watched a video of the center. Participants found a familiar face in the video, the lecturer of June 23.

There are 9 categories of trainings in the center, such as mechanical engineering、electric and electronics engineering, technical operation, interior design, media business, information technology, practical work and job development.

Participants observed most of the vocational training programs, including hotel service which is designed for persons with intellectual disabilities, under the practical work section of the Job development category.

At the end of the observation trip, a lecture on “Rehabilitation Process” was given by Professor of Urawa University and one of committee members. He explained the participants not only the rehabilitation process but also the relation between disability grades and welfare services.
