The following is the announcement for today's special preview.

Dear Sir/Madam

Kyousaren
President, Mr. Tadashi Nishimura

Invitation
Special Preview: “A Piece of Your Home” (Furusato wo Kudasai)
with English Subtitle.

Japan Association of Community Workshop for Disabled Persons (Kyosaren) in collaboration with The Nippon Foundation is happy to announce the Special Preview of “A Piece of Your Home (Furusato wo Kudasai)” with English Subtitle, at The Nippon Foundation Building in Tokyo, 26 June 2008.

Kyosaren was established in August 1977 and is a nation wide network aiming to spread the notion that people with disability are fully capable of contributing to society by joining the workforce and the local community. At the present time, more than 1900 small collaborative working places, group homes, centers for independent living, and institutions are members.

To celebrate Kyosaren's 30th anniversary, the motion picture “A Piece of Your Home” was filmed this spring. It depicts the often misunderstood attitudes that the Japanese people have toward persons with psychiatric disability. Executive Director, Katsunori Fujii's hoped that the film would help people become familiarized about mental health issues and realize how they are subconsciously prejudice towards disabled persons at a subconscious level. The script was written by a Veteran screenwriter, James Miki who has managed to transform a serious theme into an entertaining story with a strong message that reflects the Kyosaren philosophy.

Kyosaren wishes to get as many viewers of this film as possible.

Since Kyosaren believes that prejudice toward persons with disabilities is a common global issue, they wished to have as many people as possible, thus produced an English as well as a Spanish subtitled version. Last February, the Spanish version was shown in Costa Rica, and successfully gathered audiences from 7 Central American countries. The film was well taken by the people and many commented on how they were also carrying similar issues regarding disability as those depicted in the film. In the near future, Kyosaren hopes to expand this network to the people of Asia.

This time, we will be showing the English subtitled version and would like to especially invite those who are actively working in the international and/or disability field.

We take this opportunity to thank The Nippon Foundation for their kind support and collaboration.

We hope to see many people attend the ceremony so please inform us of your attendance via FAX by 20th June, Friday addressed to the Kyosaren Secretariat.

We look forward to your attendance

Thank you very much
