Special Adviser for Disability Issues

Ten participants visited Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to have a lecture on “Welfare Services for Persons with Disabilities in Japan” by Special Adviser for Disability Issues. He explained us about not only a brief outline of welfare for persons with disabilities in Japan but also the present issue, “Law concerning Self-reliance Support for Persons with Disabilities.” (No definite translation, so Law concerning Independent Support for Persons with Disabilities is also used as its translation)

During the lecture participants were very active and asked many questions to Mr. Otsuka such as the process for applying handbook (certificate) for persons with disabilities and services they receive, services for families whose child has disability, Disability Basic Pension, expenditure of medical treatment, definition of disabilities and etc.

We used a huge meeting room

Ministry is located in Kasumigaseki. In this district there are some thirty administrative and judicial offices of the Japanese government. Participants had a chance to see the National Diet Building and other ministries building from the bus.

Participants looked very serious.  Participants listened Mr. Otsuka's lecture very carefully.
