 This is the second edition of the "Welfare for Persons with Disabilities in Japan - 2004" which published by Japan International Cooperation Agency and Japanese Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities. The new edition aims to provide the latest information including the Independent Living Support Act which has been enforced since 2005 and has resulted in some changes to the welfare for persons with disabilities in Japan. As the new changes are introduced here, please understand that the tentative translations are being used for some terms.
 We hope this edition will be used widely for those who need the latest information in the disability field in Japan.
