June 22, 2006 (Afternoon) : Visit: Akita Prefectural Special School for Children with Disabilities "Tenno-Midori-Gakuen"

In the afternoon we went to a special school to ovserve activities of children with disabilities. We didn't have a chance to visit any facility related to special education for persons with disabilities in Tokyo, so it was a great opportunity to see the educational institution for children with disabilities.

Everyone’s School Attendance Day [ PDF (43KB) ]

The school regularly holds a gathering called "Everyone's School Attendance Day" in order to interact with guardians as well as people in the community and fortunately it was held on the day we visited and we could attend it. About 100 students, teachers and guardians including seven guests from Asian countries gathered together at the gymnasium of the school. We all sang and danced together with pupils and students of the school and the participants from Cambodia, Bhutan and Sri Lanka introduced their country's songs. The visit became an unforgettable memory for all of us.
