2009
SIA began 2009 as it had ended 2008 addressing the needs of wheelchair confined persons.
SIA office and staff continued to work through out the Christmas and new year break 2008 to 2009.
January
SIA opened the financial year 2009 on the second of January with an opening balance of $2,183.42.
Due to the demands for medical supplies and maintenance and request for wheelchairs medical supplies were purchased together with parts for wheelchair.
The need of individuals form SIA was so high in the month of January that the association started facing financial difficulties by the end of the month. There were ten (10) new membership for January most of whom requesting and receiving wheelchairs and medical supplies.
February
Due to the financial hardship faced by the association, SIA sent out financial request to individuals, business sector and organizations.
Funds received allowed the association to remain open at the same time addressing the needs of wheelchair confined persons mainly in the area of mobility (wheelchairs, commodes, walking frames and crutches). The medical supplies were addressed on merit.
The office of SIA was looking forward to the NGO government grant that would enable the association to purchase much needed medical supplies and wheelchair parts.
There were eight (8) new memberships in February. These individuals were assisted with mobility apparatus and medical supplies.
March
As SIA membership grew the need for funds was vital and due to insufficient funds SIA functions and obligations was becoming extremely difficult. Nevertheless SIA executives and volunteers were determined to remain open carrying out the vital components of the association. The volunteers of SIA Agreed to rotational basis and allowance sacrifice in order for SIA to remain open.
SIA turned to FDPA and sister affiliates at Qarase House for assistance in utilization of the office equipments and staff. Aquimulated bills forwarded to dates once funds are available.
SIA did maintenance on Tamavua Rehab wheelchairs and commodes. This was a vital need as most of Tamavua Rehab wheelchairs needed immediate attention for its patients. This was done at no expense to Tamavua Rehab but with what limited resources SIA received from financial request.
SIA membership multiplied with eleven (11) new members for the month of March. The need and assistance was as previous months.

This funds were mainly utilized to address members needs namingly in the wheelchair project and medical supplies.
CONCLUSION

Though the first quarter was financially challenging for SIA the association is extremely grateful to the assistance by individuals, businesses houses and organizations for the tremendous support which enable the association to fulfill its obligations and functions.
The association shall remain to continue doing its best in providing services to those that needs SIA support.
SIA is hopeful that the second quarter will be financially stable with the NGO government grant, the approval of ANZ assistance to its wheelchair project and a successful fundraising drive on the fourth to the sixteenth May 2009.
Since its restructure in early 2007 SIA membership has grown and continuous to multiply at the same time assisting other service provider with maintenance on assistive devisers.
