”Importance of participation in politics” by Mr. Eita Yashiro

Mr. Eita Yashiro, a former member of the Diet visited Seminar Room to lecture on ”Importance of participation in politics”.

He was one of key persons who were concerned in setting up this JICA Leaders Course for Persons with Disabilities in 1983. He explained not only the relation between Rehabilitation International and Disabled Peoples International but also the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons. His personal history and history of movements for persons with disabilities very much overlap.

Mr. Yashiro spoke to nine participants the importance of "voice of our own" and encouraged them to participate in the politics in respective courtiers.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs: ”Human Rights and Persons with Disabilities ”

Mr. Eita Yashiro

All participants moved to Ministry of Foreign Affairs to learn about UN Convention on the Human Rights of People with Disabilities from Ms. Shoko Haruki, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs Division, Global Issues Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Kim Jeong-ok, Director of DPI Advocacy Center.
