Outside the building
- Accessibility
When wheelchair users come to JICA Tokyo from outside, the access is guaranteed by the slope installed to the street. This is a new slope installed in August 2006 and before this date TBS staff working in JICA Tokyo brought a potable slope and installed it temporarily.
Outside the entrance are facilitated with Braille blocks and a slope to eliminate the level difference. However, it is a little difficult to go up this slope on manual wheelchairs because of Braille block in its front.
You can find various barrier-free facilities inside JICA Tokyo but some are not perfect.
The annex building has Braille block leading to its entrance, and the level difference at the
entrance is eliminated with a slope. The problem is the door! It is difficult for wheelchair users
to open this door.
To overcome this barrier, other course participants or TBS staff inside the building are assisting
instead.
